B’HAM CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL CHARITY RECEIVES RECORD TOTAL FROM FUN RUN

Entrants in this year’s Royal Sutton Fun Run have raised a record £37,378 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.

Two of the main contributors to the total were engineering firm Sertec & Boldmere based fitness centre, FIT Sutton Coldfield.
Dave Steggles, Board sponsor of Charity 2025 at Sertec said: “At Sertec we believe that our success is deeply linked with the well-being of the people in the community in which we operate. As part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, we are dedicated to making a positive impact through various community support programs.
“We entered a team of thirty-five from the company and thoroughly enjoyed the event despite a few aches and pains on the Monday following the Fun Run.
“I don’t think anyone was truly aware of just how many hills there are on the course!
“We were thrilled to have raised over £12,500 for our chosen charity Birmingham Children’s Hospital. It was well beyond any of our expectations and sets a high benchmark for 2026.”
Amy Cox, owner of class-based gym, FIT Sutton Coldfield, said: “We participate in a number of events across the year to fundraise for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The Fun Run is staged in our hometown and is always well supported, clearly demonstrated with a team of 114 members. We’re so pleased to have raised over £6300 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
“Those not participating in the run volunteered to run the final drinks station at the finish line in Sutton town centre. They really enjoyed the day welcoming the participants back after their 8.5-mile trek around the royal town and giving them a well-deserved bottle of water.”
James Lunney, Challenge Events Manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity said: “We’re blown away by the money raised for the Children’s Hospital this year.
“It’s a record figure for us to receive from the Royal Sutton Fun Run and we can’t thank Sertec, FIT Sutton Coldfield and the many individuals who also raised money for us enough, as well as everyone who kindly donated.
“As a charity we want to ensure our hospital can offer the best treatment, care and experience to our young patients and their families, and these charitable funds will help us do just that.

Online registration for the 43rd Royal Sutton Fun Run opens on 31st January 2026 with the event scheduled for Sunday, 31st May 2026. Places will be limited to 5750.
