The Royal Sutton Fun Run Enters a New Chapter as Tracey Spare Retires

The Royal Sutton Fun Run is marking both the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter following the retirement of Event Director, Tracey Spare. 

The Fun Run holds a special place in Sutton Coldfield’s history, having been founded in 1982 by Roy Spare, Tracey’s father. What began as a local community event has, over more than four decades, grown into one of the Royal Town’s most recognisable and best-loved events – a legacy carried forward with care, passion, and commitment by Tracey for so many years. 

As Event Director, Tracey has been instrumental in the continued success and evolution of the Fun Run, helping it welcome tens of thousands of participants, volunteers, and spectators, while raising significant funds for a wide range of charities. His leadership ensured the event remained rooted in its community values while continuing to grow and adapt. 

The Royal Sutton Fun Run would like to offer its heartfelt thanks to Tracey for his incredible years of service. His contribution – and that of the Spare family – has made a lasting impact on Sutton Coldfield, and we wish him every happiness in his next chapter. 

While this is a significant moment of change, the future of the Royal Sutton Fun Run is in safe hands. The Royal Sutton Fun Run Directors – James Pike, Vanessa Hoe, and Nicola Davies – have commissioned an experienced events company to manage and deliver the event going forward, ensuring the highest standards of organisation, safety, and enjoyment for all involved. 

The Royal Sutton Fun Run continues to be an event for everyone, welcoming walkers, joggers, and runners of all abilities. Friends, families, schools, community groups, and teams are all invited to take part in the 43rd Royal Sutton Fun Run, which will be delivered by HS Sports, a company that has been heavily involved with the event for many years, providing both the registration platform and timing tags. Their deep understanding of the Fun Run makes them the ideal team to take the event forward.
