Real Life Church raises over £6000 for four local foodbanks

A team from Royal Sutton Coldfield’s ‘Real Life Church’ has raised £6044 and distributed the money to four local foodbanks in Royal Sutton Coldfield, Erdington, and Castle Vale.

Church Elder and Fun Run team member Matt Yates said: “We love participating in the Fun Run, and this year we participated in 1980’s fancy dress to commemorate the birth of the Royal Sutton Fun Run in 1982.

“As a team we chose to support our local foodbanks and we’re thrilled to have raised over £6000 to help them continue their invaluable work in the community.”

Ray Goodwin, CE of Spitfire Services Foodbank, based in Castle Vale, Birmingham, who accepted the cheque on behalf of four local foodbanks said: “Demand at foodbanks is regretfully continuing to grow, and we anticipate this will only increase as we progress through autumn and move into the winter months.

“Each of the four foodbanks across Sutton Coldfield, Erdington and Castle Vale have received £1500 which is both unexpected and a very welcome addition to our funds.”

Fun Run Event Director, Tracey Spare said: “Real Life Church always embrace the spirit of the Fun Run and have raised thousands of pounds over the years. It was fabulous to see them participate in 80’s fancy dress to commemorate the birth of the Fun Run, as we celebrated the 40^th event.

“It’s a sad indictment of our society that so many people are relying on foodbanks. The Real Life Church team has raised a significant sum of money to help four of our local foodbanks and I know that money will be spent wisely and help thousands across the area.”

Online registration for the 41st Royal Sutton Fun Run opens over the first weekend of February with the event due to be staged on Sunday, 2nd June 2023. Places will be limited to 5500.
